In a recent press conference in Abuja, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, firmly rejected an appeal from his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar. Atiku had urged Obi to join him in the legal battle to reclaim his alleged stolen mandate from President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election.
Responding to Atiku’s plea, Peter Obi asserted that he is actively pursuing the retrieval of what he claims to be his ‘stolen mandate’ from Tinubu in the Supreme Court. The former Vice President stated this through a press statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh.
The statement clarified that Peter Obi is currently engaged in legal proceedings at the Supreme Court, firmly focused on reclaiming what he believes to be his rightfully won mandate. This comes amid Atiku’s announcement of his intention to challenge Tinubu’s candidacy based on alleged inclusion of forged credentials in the documents submitted by the President for the 2023 presidential election.
The political landscape continues to be dynamic as key figures navigate legal avenues to address concerns and disputes arising from the recent elections. Obi’s stance underscores the complexities and rivalries within the political arena, where multiple candidates assert their claims and pursue legal remedies to contest election outcomes.
