In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, the Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 26-year-old man, Franklin Akinyosoye, on charges of being in possession of a human skull in Ondo town, Ondo State.
The suspect, who is known to be a photographer and also owns a boutique in the area, was apprehended in the quiet vicinity of Elewuro. It is reported that the unsettling discovery was made when Akinyosoye stored the human skull in a bag and concealed it in a corner of the premises of his house. However, the bag was discovered by the landlord, who immediately reported the matter to the police, leading to the swift arrest of the suspect.
Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident. She revealed that during police questioning, Akinyosoye confessed to obtaining the human skull from a herbalist located in Osun State. According to the PPRO, the suspect claimed that he received the human part as part of an arrangement to enhance his business prospects.
Intriguingly, further investigations by the police revealed an even more sinister aspect to the case. A source within the area disclosed that the initial discovery was made by a group of teenagers who are the children of the landlord. They stumbled upon a black sack containing a human head within the suspect’s compound. Immediately alarmed, they alerted their father, who promptly reported the gruesome finding to the police.
Subsequent searches of Akinyosoye’s residence, conducted by the police, uncovered a disturbing cache of not only human parts but also items suspected to be charms and even human blood. These chilling discoveries cast an even darker shadow over the already unsettling incident.
When questioned by authorities, the suspect shockingly admitted ownership of all the discovered items, including the human skull. He reportedly implicated a herbalist residing in Ikirun, Ifelodun local government area of Osun State, as the source of these macabre artifacts. The suspect’s claim that these items were procured from the herbalist raises further questions about the practices and motives involved.
The Ondo State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into this disturbing case, and Franklin Akinyosoye remains in police custody as authorities delve into the unsettling details surrounding the possession of the human skull and other disturbing items. The incident has sparked concern and unease within the community, highlighting the need for swift and comprehensive action to address not only the immediate case but also the broader issues it raises about illegal and potentially dangerous practices.
