The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on crime, arresting 153 suspects and confiscating large quantities of illicit drugs, cash, and a motorcycle in a coordinated state-wide operation.
This was disclosed on Monday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam. According to him, the operation — executed across all 42 divisions — targeted criminal hideouts, drug joints, and black spots to curb the rising wave of criminal activities in the state.
Adam revealed that those arrested were involved in offenses such as drug trafficking, possession of illicit substances, and related crimes.
Among the seized items were over 3,100 Exol tablets, 3,000 D5 tablets, 1,800 Tramadol capsules, three blocks and 943 wraps of cannabis, and other substances including diazepam, syrup bottles, rubber solution, and pregabalin. Police also recovered ₦228,570 in cash and a boxer motorcycle used for criminal activities.
Following investigations, the suspects have been charged to court.
SP Adam noted that the success of the operation highlights the command’s renewed commitment to eradicating drug abuse and ensuring public safety. He urged residents to report any suspicious activities, assuring them of confidentiality and prompt response.
He also warned criminal elements to desist from their unlawful acts or face the full wrath of the law, emphasizing that the police would sustain their operations until crime and drug peddling are completely stamped out from Jigawa State.
