In a chilling development, the Ogun State Police Command has solved the perplexing case of the disappearance of Quadri Salami, a 100-level student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, uncovering a gruesome tale of ritualistic murder.
As per a statement from the command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the father of Quadri reported his son missing on November 14, 2023, at Kenta Police station. The worried father informed the police that he hadn’t seen his son since November 8, and all attempts to locate him had been in vain.
A major breakthrough in the case came on Wednesday when the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, personally led a Tactical Squad to Mile 6 in the Ajebo area of Abeokuta. Acting on a tracking clue linked to Akeem Usman, who was apprehended with the victim’s phone, the team discovered a shallow grave containing decomposing body parts of Quadri.
Odutola revealed that Akeem implicated one Ifadowo Niyi, confessing to the heinous crime of slaughtering Quadri and dismembering his vital parts for ritual purposes. Ifadowo allegedly took Quadri’s head and two wrists, paying Akeem one hundred thousand Naira as proceeds from the sale of the human body parts.
The suspects allegedly continued to sell the victim’s other body parts to internet fraudsters, burying the heart, two legs, and flesh in a plastic rubber for rituals, while using the remaining parts for criminal activities known as “awure.” Shockingly, the duo confessed to using four other human heads for money rituals, referred to as “Osole.”
Both suspects are currently in custody at Eleweran at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations. The police are committed to ensuring justice is served, and the perpetrators will face the full extent of the law. The Commissioner of Police urged parents to collaborate with the police, providing voluntary information to eliminate such nefarious practices that endanger innocent lives.
