The Presidency has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list is not yet ready. Dele Alake, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, made this clarification during a briefing with journalists in Abuja.
Alake urged Nigerians to disregard the rumors surrounding the awaited ministerial list, stating that all the reports in the media are mere fabrications. He emphasized that as an executive presidency, the decision to announce the ministerial list rests solely with the President.
While the constitution grants the President 60 days to constitute the Federal Executive Council, Tinubu, who was inaugurated as Nigeria’s 16th President on May 29, 2023, is yet to announce his ministers, even five weeks into his administration. However, he has appointed some special advisers and new service chiefs.
In June, Tinubu appointed Dele Alake as his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, and Yau Darazo as Special Adviser on Political and Intergovernmental Affairs. Other appointments include Wale Edun as Special Adviser on Monetary Policies, Olu Verheijen as Special Adviser on Energy, Zachaeus Adedeji as Special Adviser on Revenue, John Uwajumogu as Special Adviser on Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Salma Anas as Special Adviser on Health.
