President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote as the Acting Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for a 90-day interim period. The appointment is set to begin on August 24, 2023, after which Coker-Odusote will commence a full four-year term as the substantive NIMC Director-General/CEO, starting on November 24, 2023.
Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote is set to take over from the current NIMC Director-General, Engr. Aliyu Abubakar Aziz, who has been directed by the President to proceed on a 90-day pre-retirement leave beginning August 24, 2023. Aziz’s retirement from service will follow on November 24, 2023.
In addition, President Tinubu has also approved the appointment of Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub as the Director/CEO of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC). This decision comes after the expiration of the tenure of the former DTAC Director/CEO, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi.
The appointments were confirmed by a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, and take immediate effect.
Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote has a diverse professional background, having previously served as the Special Adviser on Technology to former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu. With 15 years of experience spanning various industries such as technology, real estate/construction, oil and gas, finance, media, and advertising, she brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. Coker-Odusote has worked both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Her career highlights also include being the former Head of IT and Communications at Bate Liwin, as well as her role as the Project Director of the APC National Database. In 2021, she was appointed as the Director-General of the Lagos State Infrastructural Maintenance and Regulatory agency by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
