Qatar has embarked on a significant endeavor to construct 500,000 housing units for underprivileged residents in Kaduna State, located in the North-west region of Nigeria. The inauguration of the Mega Economic City project, led by Qatar’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Ali Bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, marks the commencement of this ambitious initiative.
The project aims to substantially improve the living conditions of families facing economic challenges in Kaduna State. Qatar’s commitment to this endeavor demonstrates a dedication to making a positive impact on communities by addressing housing needs and providing empowerment opportunities.
Mr. Al-Hajri praised Governor Uba Sani for his support in launching the Qatar Sanabil Project, emphasizing its potential to uplift the state’s underprivileged residents.
In addition to the housing construction, Qatar Charity has pledged a range of interventions and empowerment programs for the less privileged throughout Kaduna State. These initiatives encompass scholarships for orphans and children of low-income families, distribution of equipment like sewing machines and welding machines, drilling boreholes, and other empowerment opportunities that contribute to economic and social well-being.
Governor Sani expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Qatar in Nigeria and the Qatari-owned Sanabil Project for aligning with Kaduna’s business-friendly environment. He highlighted that the Mega Economic City project will not only address housing needs but also offer world-class infrastructure, a secure atmosphere, and conducive conditions for business activities.
The project’s scope goes beyond housing, incorporating essential facilities such as clinics, shops, poultry farms, and farmland for agriculture, including both rainy season and irrigation farming. By addressing various aspects of community well-being, this initiative holds the potential to contribute to economic growth, provide livelihood opportunities, and create a more sustainable and empowered environment for the residents of Kaduna State.
