Reps Swear In Three New Members After By-Elections in Edo, Kaduna, and Jigawa

The House of Representatives on Tuesday officially swore in three newly elected lawmakers following recent by-elections conducted across Edo, Kaduna, and Jigawa States.

Those sworn in include Omosede Igbinedion (Edo), Felix Bagudu (Kaduna), and Murktar Rabiu (Jigawa) — all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The brief ceremony took place during plenary, presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, who introduced the new members before they were formally ushered into the chamber by the Clerk of the House.

INEC had declared Igbinedion the winner of the Ovia Federal Constituency by-election in Edo State after she secured 77,053 votes, reclaiming the seat vacated by Dennis Idahosa following his emergence as deputy governor in September 2024.

In Kaduna, Felix Bagudu clinched victory in the Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election with 34,580 votes, replacing the late Ekene Adams of the Labour Party.

Meanwhile, Murktar Rabiu from Garki/Babura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State won his race with 38,449 votes, completing the trio of new lawmakers.

The new members are expected to immediately resume legislative duties as part of the ongoing plenary sessions.
