Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has called on the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to resign or beg for pardon.
It was reported that some aggrieved members of the main opposition party including Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ortom, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, former Governor of Ekiti State Ayo Fayose and many others have called for the removal of the resignation of Ayu.
These aggrieved individuals have faulted Ayu’s decision to remain as party chairman despite allegedly exhibiting partiality in the PDP presidential primary that produced his fellow northerner, Atiku Abubakar, as presidential candidate.
Ortom, Wike and other aggrieved members had recently pulled out of the PDP presidential campaign until Ayu is removed.
Speaking during the Executive Council meeting in Government House Makurdi at the weekend, Ortom recalled that Ayu promised to resign if a northern candidate emerges presidential candidate of the party.
