The Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs in Rivers State has officially pledged their unwavering support for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and its Executive Management, vowing to collaborate in the urgent development of communities within the Niger Delta region. The commitment was made during a solidarity visit to the NDDC Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, at the Commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Led by Chief Adokiye Ochemiebia Chuku, Chairman of the Council of Chiefs from Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, the delegation expressed confidence in the capabilities of the NDDC Board and Management to deliver high-quality service. Chief Chuku emphasized the significance of supporting the NDDC management and encouraged Alabo Iyaye to leave a lasting legacy in the Niger Delta region while prioritizing the needs of his immediate constituency.
The purpose of the visit, according to Chief Chuku, was to showcase solidarity with the Executive Director and motivate him to make a lasting impact on the Niger Delta region. He advised Alabo Iyaye to ensure that his name is remembered for enduring legacies, stating, “Please, make sure that you write your name in gold. We pray that at the end of your service, Niger Delta people will remember you for enduring legacies.”
Responding to the Chiefs, Alabo Boma Iyaye expressed gratitude for the show of solidarity and urged the Ogu community to continue fostering peace, emphasizing its indispensable role as a catalyst for development in the region. He emphasized that peace and cooperation are crucial for the success of development initiatives.
Alabo Iyaye assured the Chiefs of his unwavering commitment to making them proud and pledged to leave an indelible mark by elevating the name of the Ogu community on the map of the Niger Delta region. As Director of Corporate Affairs, Pius Ughakpoteni, announced the solidarity pledge and commitment on December 21, 2023, anticipation grows for the collaborative efforts between the Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs and the NDDC in shaping the future of the Niger Delta region.
