In a significant development in the Ahoada area of Rivers State, another cult leader has chosen to surrender to the police, marking a noteworthy step towards curbing criminal activities in the region.
The recently surrendered cult leader, known as General Silas, hails from Odiereke Ubie in Ahoada West Local Government Area. His decision to surrender was accompanied by the surrender of his ammunition, which notably included two pump-action guns. These actions reflect a significant shift in the ongoing efforts to address the issue of cult-related activities and violence in the area.
Sources indicate that the recent wave of surrenders by cult leaders might be attributed to the intensified efforts of the police, which have included frequent raids on the cult camps. This heightened pressure on these criminal groups could be a key factor motivating cult leaders to opt for peaceful resolution by turning themselves in to law enforcement authorities.
However, as of now, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, has not yet confirmed this latest development, despite attempts to seek clarification through text messages.
The surrender of cult leaders has become a recurrent theme in the region, with Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, highlighting that both ‘General’ 2Man and ‘General’ Worldwide, who are members of the Greenland cult group, have also chosen to surrender to the police. This series of surrenders signifies a potential shift towards quelling cult-related violence and fostering a safer environment in the Ahoada area of Rivers State.
