Electricity consumers in Gombe and parts of Yola and Bauchi states will face power outages on Thursday and Friday due to scheduled maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). The maintenance will involve preventive measures on the T1A 150MVA, 330/132/33kV transformer bay.
According to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the maintenance is set to last for eight hours each day, running from 9 am to 5 pm. The TCN plans to transfer the load from the T1A 150MVA transformer to the T2A 150MVA transformer in the same substation to commence the maintenance exercise.
Mbah clarified that the interruption of bulk power supply to Jos and Yola Distribution Companies (DisCos) would only occur during the transfer period, not for the entire eight-hour maintenance period on both days. The outage is expected to affect Gombe and some parts of Yola and Bauchi states only during the transfer time.
She assured that TCN would promptly restore bulk power supply through the transformer immediately after completing the maintenance exercise. The statement expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to electricity consumers within the affected areas.
In a related development, TCN’s maintenance crew recently conducted scheduled preventive maintenance on the Jos-Lafia 330kV transmission lines, which had been redundant for some time.
