Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, has declared his move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a pledge to usher in meaningful development that has been elusive in Anambra State for the past two decades.
Addressing an event organized by the Anambra State Chapter of the APC to welcome him, Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, their supporters, and other new members, Senator Ubah expressed his commitment to connecting Anambra State to the center for sustainable development. He lamented the political stagnation the state has experienced under the control of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the last 20 years.
Senator Ubah criticized Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for failing to conduct Local Government elections, a promise made to the people of Anambra during the 2021 Governorship election. He particularly condemned the perceived incapacity of the Soludo administration to provide opportunities for the youth, dismissing the “1 youth, 2 skills” initiative as mere pageantry.
Senator Uche Ekwunife expressed gratitude to the APC for welcoming them into the party and pledged to contribute to the growth and success of the party in the state. She called on party members to support efforts to advance the party’s influence and connectivity to the center.
Welcoming the new members, the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Basil Ejidike, expressed joy at receiving personalities with significant political stature into the party. He emphasized the need for unity, commitment, and discipline within the party, urging members to avoid indiscipline, anti-party sentiments, and disloyalty to party leaders.
Chief Ejidike also appealed for federal government appointments, citing a desire to enhance the party’s reward system and ensure that such positions are allocated to deserving APC members in the state, addressing previous instances where appointments were reportedly given to non-APC members.
