Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized that military offensives alone cannot sustainably resolve the security crisis in Nigeria’s Northwest. He stated that a combination of kinetic (military) and non-kinetic (non-military) strategies is necessary to restore calm in the troubled region.
In a conversation with journalists during his condolence visits to the Galadanci and Mangal families in Kano and Katsina respectively, Shettima expressed that a military solution alone would result in an endless war of attrition.
The Vice President revealed that the Tinubu administration is preparing to unveil the “Pulaaku solution” in the coming weeks. The initiative aims to address insurgency, poverty, and other challenges faced by Nigerians, especially in the northern region.
“Pulaaku,” also known as the “Fulani code of conduct,” is a cultural and ethical value system specific to the Fulani people. It encompasses a range of norms and behaviors, emphasizing patience, self-control, discipline, modesty, respect for others, bravery, courage, hard work, and wisdom.
The Tinubu administration’s plan aims to redefine the concept of modern governance while addressing the crisis in the Northwest, which is exacerbated by poverty and social exclusion. The VP highlighted the President’s determination to confront social exclusion and poverty, and the upcoming “Pulaaku solution” is expected to address these challenges.
During his visit to Kano and Katsina, Vice President Shettima offered condolences to the families of late Imam Galadanci and Dahiru Mangal’s first wife, Aisha Dahiru, who recently passed away. He emphasized the need for unity among northern leaders and urged Nigerians to support the Tinubu administration through prayers and other means for the success of its programs and policies.
