A Family Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered that skit maker Maruf Abdullahi, popularly known as “Trinity,” be remanded in the Agodi Correction Centre for allegedly sexually exploiting a 10-year-old girl. The court also ruled that the parents of the child, Isiaka Ahmed and Rofiat Ahmed, should remain in custody at Agodi. The Magistrate, Mrs P. O. Adetuyibi, adjourned the matter until August 3 for mention.
According to reports, Abdullahi, along with the parents of the victim, is facing charges of conspiracy and sexual abuse/exploitation. The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Oluwakemi Arowosaye, informed the court that Abdullahi, Ahmed, and his wife Rofiat allegedly conspired to sexually abuse the young girl. The incident is said to have occurred on December 17, 2022, in the Kuola area of Ibadan.
The charges against Abdullahi and the parents of the victim contravene the provisions of Section 35 (1) and are punishable under Section 35 (2) of the Oyo State Child Right’s Law 2006. Additionally, the actions are said to violate the provisions of Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The court hearing will continue on August 3, as the case progresses.
