Sir Kie Kie, a staunch supporter of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressive Congress (APC), has expressed deep frustration over the hardships and difficulties caused by the removal of fuel subsidy for his family and other average Nigerians across the country.
The removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria has significantly impacted the social and economic lives of ordinary Nigerians, leading many to endure unimaginable hardships and sacrifice essential needs they can no longer afford.
It can be recalled that President Tinubu, in his inaugural speech, announced the removal of fuel subsidy on Monday, May 29, which has brought forth new challenges and realities for Nigerians nationwide.
Speaking passionately about the situation, Kie Kie mentioned that he and many other supporters of the current president had campaigned with the hope that President Tinubu understood the plight of the masses and would alleviate the pain caused by the previous administration.
However, he expressed disappointment at Tinubu’s silence since the subsidy removal and suggested that the government should have waited until the end of July to implement the removal.
Kie Kie emphasized that many of his friends and family members can barely afford a meal now as prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed.
He vowed to continue voicing his anger about the hardships and hunger experienced by the average Nigerian until significant measures are taken to alleviate the impact of the subsidy removal.
In a video statement, Kie Kie stated, “We believed that you were the same person who stood for the masses and not like Peter Obi, who was a pretender. Some people are going hungry, some people can’t move around freely now just because they campaigned for you. You can send us to prison, but we won’t let you rest until you take action.”
The frustrations expressed by Sir Kie Kie reflect the sentiments of many Nigerians who have been adversely affected by the fuel subsidy removal, highlighting the need for the government to address the concerns and mitigate the hardships faced by the populace.
