The embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has called on the Supreme Court of Nigeria to affirm the ruling of the Appeal Court that discharged and acquitted him of all terror-related charges, according to ABN TV.
Kanu, represented by his lead counsel, Kanu Godwin Agabi SAN, emphasized his client’s innocence, urging the Supreme Court to uphold the decision of the lower court and set him free from the allegations.
On the other hand, the prosecuting counsel advocated for the setting aside of the Court of Appeal judgment and requested that Nnamdi Kanu face trial for the previous charges held against him at the Federal High Court.
The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on the matter, with the decision expected to be delivered on December 15. The case continues to draw attention amid the legal proceedings surrounding Nnamdi Kanu, who has been a prominent figure in the push for Biafra’s secession.
