A 20-year-old suspected armed robber, Gafar Odusoya, has been arrested in Lagos State after a lady allegedly trapped him with sex in her room during a robbery operation with his gang. The incident occurred on June 17, 2023, in the early hours of the morning in the Isale-Oja area of Agege, Lagos.
According to reports, the armed men broke into the lady’s apartment, robbed her of valuable items, and forcibly used her ATM cards to withdraw money. While the other members of the gang were escaping, Odusoya stayed behind and engaged in forced sexual activity with the victim. Unbeknownst to him, the victim deliberately delayed him and pretended to enjoy the encounter.
The victim’s neighbors became aware of the situation and apprehended Odusoya, handing him over to the police for interrogation. During questioning, it was revealed that he was part of the gang planning the robbery but ended up committing the additional crime of rape.
Odusoya was subsequently charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, and rape before the Ogba Magistrate Court. However, the court did not take his plea as the prosecutor requested the case to be referred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The presiding magistrate ordered Odusoya’s remand in custody pending the DPP’s advice and instructed the prosecutor to send the case file for review. The court adjourned the matter for mention while Odusoya was remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos. The DPP’s advice will determine whether the case will be transferred to the High Court based on jurisdiction.
