In another incident of security concern, suspected terrorists have targeted a hostel at a federal university in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, Nigeria, abducting at least five female students. The victims were taken from a private lodge along Moriamoh Ajiri School in Dutsin-Ma.
The report reveals that three of the abducted students are from Kwara State, one from Kano, and another from Niger State. This incident follows closely after a similar attack in Zamfara State where dozens of female students were kidnapped from a public university.
Approximately 12 days ago, gunmen suspected to be terrorists kidnapped students in Zamfara, with some later rescued by the Nigerian Army after a gun battle. However, it was clarified that not all the abducted students were rescued, and the situation continues to be a concern.
The recurrent incidents highlight the persistent security challenges in the Northwest region of Nigeria, where educational institutions have become targets for abductions by criminal elements. Authorities face the ongoing task of addressing security threats to safeguard the well-being of students and maintain a conducive environment for education.
