Three individuals suspected to be members of the ISIS terrorist group were apprehended on Sunday night in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, with three AK-47 rifles.
According to reports, the first suspect, Muhammad Muktar, was initially arrested near the Dan-Kogi Motor Park in Zuba town. Following his arrest, Muktar led the police to their hideouts in the nearby Dakwa town, where two additional accomplices were located.
The Sarkin Pada of Zuba, Alhaji Murtala Muhammad, shared details of the incident, stating that Muktar was noticed around the motor park with an AK-47 gun concealed under his clothing. Observers raised an alarm, leading to his apprehension. Muktar reportedly confessed during the investigation, revealing that he was a member of the ISIS terrorist group and had come from Doron-Baga town in Borno State with the intent to kill someone.
The police were alerted, and the suspect, along with his AK-47 rifle and two magazines, was handed over to them by local vigilantes. Subsequently, two more individuals were arrested in Dakwa town with two AK-47 guns found in their hideouts.
The spokesperson for the FCT police command, Josephine Adeh, was contacted for further details, but as of the time of reporting, no additional information had been provided.
The arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat terrorism and maintain public safety in the region.
