President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to be patient as the government works on developing a framework for palliatives to alleviate the hardship caused by the removal of petrol subsidy. Speaking during a meeting with the Class of 1999 governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu assured the public that the decision to remove the subsidy was in the country’s best interest and would contribute to future prosperity.
While acknowledging the suffering experienced by the people, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of patience and promised to expedite the process of implementing a secure social security structure, particularly in cash transfer programs. He expressed his concern about ensuring that funds do not fall into the wrong hands and urged the governors to convey the message of patience to the people. President Tinubu highlighted the positive impact of the subsidy removal, stating that it symbolized a rebirth of the country and would benefit the majority of Nigerians.
President Tinubu also emphasized his commitment to democracy and the well-being of the country, stating that his presidency was a result of God’s plan. He assured the governors and Nigerians of his dedication to unity, equity, stability, and prosperity. In addressing the country’s challenges, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of fixing the electricity sector and pledged to harness gas resources to ensure stable power generation and supply. Additionally, he called for dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts, particularly in Plateau State, highlighting that border issues were man-made and not divinely created.
