President Bola Tinubu has responded to the recent statement made by former Vice President and PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, accusing the APC-led administration of plotting to undermine the judiciary. Tinubu, through his spokesman, Dele Alake, called Atiku’s claims “laughable and jejune,” stating that they lack any convincing evidence.
Tinubu emphasized that Atiku’s remarks are merely an attempt to smear and discredit the judiciary after his defeat in the 2023 presidential election. He urged Atiku to provide concrete evidence to support his allegations and not resort to making baseless accusations.
The statement further highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to democracy and the sanctity of the judiciary, mentioning his previous efforts as Governor of Lagos State to challenge draconian decisions by the PDP-led federal government. Tinubu’s track record in promoting the rule of law and independence of the judiciary was emphasized, showcasing his role in winning over 13 cases up to the Supreme Court during the PDP administration.
The statement made it clear that Tinubu won the last election fairly and transparently, and he has no reason to undermine the judiciary in the hope of any favorable judgment. The president’s team dismissed Atiku’s allegations as unfounded and lacking substance.
