Tinubu Declares War on Terrorism, Says “Nigeria Will Not Bow to Fear” as He Strengthens Global Ties

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday vowed that his administration will crush terrorism and restore Nigeria’s global reputation through stronger diplomacy and economic resilience.

Speaking at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held inside the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja — the first since July — Tinubu reaffirmed that his government will not relent in the fight against insecurity or in building bridges with international allies.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism,” the President declared before the cabinet entered a closed-door session.

Tinubu’s declaration comes amid renewed global scrutiny after former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly classified Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’, citing alleged failures in addressing religious and security challenges.

Reacting to the development, the Nigerian government dismissed the designation as a misrepresentation of Nigeria’s reality, insisting that the nation’s security forces have made notable progress in reclaiming territories and dismantling terrorist networks.

In his first official reaction, Tinubu maintained that his administration is committed to advancing security, stability, and economic growth through effective collaboration with world powers and international institutions.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy,” he stated.

The President reiterated that his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on rebuilding trust, attracting investors, and ensuring that every Nigerian feels the tangible benefits of governance.

Tinubu also praised his cabinet members for their loyalty and perseverance, urging them to remain united and dedicated to the nation’s progress.

“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he added.

Political observers believe Tinubu’s renewed emphasis on diplomacy signals a strategic push to reposition Nigeria as a regional powerhouse and credible partner in global security and trade.

The FEC meeting also reviewed ongoing reforms in the energy, infrastructure, and defense sectors as part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s resilience against both internal and external threats.

Tinubu concluded by assuring Nigerians that the country remains indivisible and that his administration will pursue peace and prosperity with determination and transparency.
