President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to unlock their full potential and ensure their long-term success. He made this statement at the 2023 edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF) organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) with the theme, “Connecting Businesses, Creating Value.”
Recognizing the vital role MSMEs play in the Nigerian economy, President Tinubu emphasized the government’s responsibility to support these businesses, which are the lifeblood of economic prosperity. He pledged to create policies, provide access to finance, and offer capacity-building initiatives to empower these enterprises for success.
While emphasizing the importance of embracing technology, innovation, and adapting to evolving consumer demands, President Tinubu urged Nigerian MSMEs to position themselves not just as participants in the global marketplace but as leaders and innovators.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu, who also spoke at the event, noted the significance of businesses connecting and the strategic importance of the fair. He reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment for investments to thrive in the state.
The fair provides a 10-day window for businesses to showcase their products, gain marketing mileage, and explore networking opportunities, further building the investment ecosystem to support competitive opportunities in Nigeria.
Sanwo-olu also highlighted the potential within the youth population, emphasizing the need for a different approach to attract potential investors. He pledged that his administration would work to address challenges confronting businesses and expand infrastructure for the benefit of the state and nation.
