Alhaji Musa Saidu has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to allow the Igbos to find a solution to their internal security challenges. In a conversation, Saidu emphasized that the Igbos were better positioned to address the situation.
Saidu stated that it was evident that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), no longer had firm control over the situation in the South East. He noted that splinter groups seemed to have emerged from IPOB, which were also contributing to the insecurity in the region.
The individual pointed out that during the time when Fulanis were accused of being behind killings in various parts of the South East and subsequently chased out, the killings persisted in the area. This, according to Saidu, was evidence that Fulanis were being wrongly blamed for the insecurity problem in the region.
“They have chased all the Fulanis out of their land yet the killings have been on. It shows that Fulani were just being blackmailed. All the Igbos are now crying for security,” Saidu stated.
Saidu urged President Tinubu to allow the Igbos to address the security challenges within their own land. He highlighted that the propaganda against Fulanis in the South East had created fear among people in other parts of the country. Saidu emphasized that the Igbos were capable of resolving their own problems.
“It is like there are several groups operating in Igbo land that are no longer under the control of Nnamdi Kanu. Fulanis were killed by these Igbo groups. I buried many of them. I have not said there are no criminals among the Fulani. But with what has been happening in the South East, it shows that the Fulanis had no hand,” Saidu concluded.
The statement by Alhaji Musa Saidu highlights the need for the Igbos to take charge of resolving their internal security challenges and dispels the notion that Fulanis were responsible for the ongoing insecurity in the region.
