Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, revealed on Thursday in Abuja that the Tinubu administration may create new ministries from the existing ones. The ministerial list, comprising 28 nominees, was submitted to the National Assembly and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Gbajabiamila stated that President Tinubu intends to restructure the ministries or separate portfolios, leading to the possibility of new standalone ministries being established. He emphasized that the process is ongoing, indicating that more changes might occur.
The 28 ministerial nominees, carefully selected by President Tinubu, have undergone strict personal screening. Gbajabiamila clarified that the second part of the list, comprising about 12 to 13 names, will be forwarded to the Senate in the coming days to complete the cabinet for the administration.
Traditionally, the President does not attach portfolios to the nominees’ names in the letter to the Senate, allowing room for flexibility and reviews. Gbajabiamila explained that this approach gives the President the freedom to make changes if needed, without the complications of re-screening candidates.
