In a heartbreaking incident, 22-year-old Florence Vandi, a resident of Viniklang in the Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has taken her own life by consuming a poisonous substance. The tragedy occurred as a protest against the recent death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface.
Florence, an indigent of Michika LGA, was found lifeless after ingesting the local substance, just hours after her boyfriend’s demise following a brief illness and hospitalization. The state police command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
Nguroje disclosed that the investigation revealed Florence’s occupation as a Health Worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre. The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed sorrow over the incident, urging the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and instead report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to the police.
