TS Academy Empowers African Youth With Free Laptops, Smartphones, and ₦1 Billion Tech Scholarships

In a bold move to close Africa’s digital divide and empower young talents, Tech Sphere Academy (TS Academy) has distributed free laptops, smartphones, and scholarship certificates to hundreds of students across the continent. The initiative aims to make technology education more accessible and practical for aspiring professionals.

The presentation ceremony took place in Lagos, Nigeria, where students enrolled in disciplines such as Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Product Management, Project Management, Product Marketing, Social Media Marketing, and Digital Marketing received the devices. These tools are intended to help participants seamlessly attend virtual classes, complete projects, and engage in mentorship programs.

Oluwadamilola Opaniyan, General Manager of People & Growth at TS Academy, emphasized that equipping students with proper learning tools is central to their success.

“We’ve seen how much impact the right tools have on a learner’s growth. These devices give our students the foundation they need to fully participate and remain committed throughout their programs,” she said.

This initiative expands on the Academy’s ₦1 billion scholarship program, which has already provided over 3,000 Africans with fully funded digital and technology training opportunities. The Academy’s founder, Adetola Durojaiye, stated that the vision is to build a generation of skilled Africans capable of competing globally in the digital economy.

“Our goal is to ensure every learner at TS Academy has an equal chance to succeed. With mentorship, training, and access to the right resources, we’re not just teaching skills — we’re building futures,” Durojaiye affirmed.

The Academy’s Head of Strategy, Toheeb Abdulraham, highlighted that the combination of devices and structured mentorship ensures that learners stay focused and productive throughout their studies.

One of the beneficiaries, Chimaroke Chukwu, a Cybersecurity student, expressed deep gratitude for the support.

“Before receiving this laptop, I was worried about how I would keep up with my courses. Now I can fully concentrate on learning and preparing for a meaningful career in Africa’s tech space,” he said.

Beyond providing tools, TS Academy plans to continue supporting its graduates through mentorship, internships, and employment partnerships with top African tech companies. The institution remains committed to fostering a sustainable tech ecosystem where skilled youth can thrive, innovate, and lead Africa’s digital transformation.
