Celebrity doctor and renowned influencer, Dr. Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya, has been vindicated and exonerated by the UK’s Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service of false allegations of inappropriate conduct made against him by his ex-female friend, Dr. Bolanle Aseyan.
Dr. Olufunmilayo, who recently took a break from Twitter for personal reasons, was falsely accused of rape and was subsequently cleared by the UK Police after a thorough investigation. The police found the allegations to be unsubstantiated.
Despite the initial clearance by the police, his embittered ex-girlfriend, Dr. Bolanle, filed a frivolous complaint with the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2020 in an attempt to jeopardize his medical practice license. The matter was referred to the Medical Tribunal for review.
Today, on July 19, 2023, the Tribunal announced its decision and ruled that all the allegations against Dr. Olufunmilayo had not been proven. They determined that his fitness to practice has not been impaired, highlighting that the standard of proof used was based on a balance of probability, indicating the lack of merit or credibility in the accusations.
This vindication marks a victory for all victims of false accusations of sexual misconduct. Dr. Olufunmilayo’s lawyer in Nigeria expressed excitement over the Tribunal’s outcome and stated that the false accuser, Dr. Bolanle Aseyan, is currently facing civil and criminal lawsuits in Nigeria for her actions.
The doctor’s legal team emphasizes the seriousness of false rape allegations and condemns such actions as evil and despicable. Dr. Olufunmilayo, relieved and grateful for the support from those who believed in his innocence, sends his regards to all who stood by him during these trying times.
Furthermore, it is crucial to stress that Dr. Olufunmilayo has been exonerated not only of rape but also of sexual abuse and emotional abuse, which were falsely leveled against him by his ex-partner. This vindication comes as a significant relief for the doctor after enduring years of false accusations.
