US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, representing Georgia’s 14th District, has strongly criticized the US government’s involvement in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. She expressed her intention to vote against the Ukraine bill, which aims to allocate additional funds to support Ukraine in the war.
In her statement, she remarked, “I am determined to oppose Ukraine funding. I am deeply disgusted with the situation, as it seems that some are driven by a thirst for violence and death in Ukraine. Innocent Ukrainian civilians are being killed continuously, while both Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are losing their lives. It is a tragedy that extends beyond borders.”
Congresswoman Greene emphasized her confusion regarding why the focus in Washington, D.C. isn’t on fostering global peace and working towards a resolution between the two countries involved. Instead, she criticized the bellicose rhetoric and the demand for American taxpayers to foot the bill, describing it as both ridiculous and shameful.
She further emphasized, “This is not about supporting any particular leadership team. I will vote against it and actively campaign against this bill. How about prioritizing peace? How about sparing the American people from funding a war they didn’t start? It’s time we rethink our approach.”
Additionally, Congresswoman Greene shared her stance on Twitter, declaring, “I will vote against Ukraine funding, and I will actively campaign against it. The politicians in Washington are irresponsibly beating the drums of war and expecting the American people to pay the price. It’s frustrating to witness such shortsightedness in our nation’s capital.”
