In a tragic incident, terrorists attacked the residence of Mallam Nabanje, the vigilante leader of Danmusa Local Government Area in Katsina State. Late last night, the assailants stormed the community in large numbers, killing Mallam Nabanje and setting his house on fire. Additionally, two other community members sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.
The hoodlums specifically targeted Mallam Nabanje, blaming him for the recent destruction of their hideouts in the Danmusa Local Government Area. Witnesses recounted that upon their arrival, the terrorists spread out throughout the area, eventually locating Mallam Nabanje under a tree. A gunfight ensued until the vigilante leader ran out of ammunition. Desperate, he sought refuge in a nearby building, but the assailants caught up with him and brutally murdered him when their gunfire proved ineffective.
ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed the incident. He explained that due to rainfall and recent network challenges, the police were not alerted until around 6 am. Nonetheless, once the report was received, law enforcement officers promptly launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
The State Commissioner of Police has extended condolences to the family of the late vigilante commander. The police continue their efforts to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety and security of the community.
