In a press statement made available to the media on Thursday, the National President of the group Hon. Afolabi Adekanbi commended the Tom Ikimi-led committee for, “wielding the big stick and recommending appropriate sanctions for an erring member.”
The affirms its resolve to stand with decision of the disciplinary committee, saying: “it is our hope that the National Executive Committee of the the party will uphold the recommended sanction so as to serve as a deterrent to any other member of the party who may want to toe the line of the erstwhile national secretary of the party, Sam Anyanwu.”
The PDP-Young Generation Caucus further implores the Ikimi-led committee to take swift decisions on other pending matters before it in order to reposition the PDP.
“While appreciating and commending the National Disciplinary Committee’s efforts at instilling discipline in line with the guidelines setting it up, we also want to call on the committee to extend same measures to other petitions before the honourable committee.
“Indiscipline has been the bane of the PDP, which must be met with prompt attention in order to save the party from self-destruct,” Afolabi maintained.
He also charged all bonafide PDP members and groups across the country to remain steadfast in their support for the party and be bold to petition all those who are engaged in sundry anti-party activities meant to bring the PDP down.
He said if other formidable groups within the party who genuinely desire the reinvention of PDP take on the gauntlet like the PDP Young Generation Caucus has done by sending petitions against characters who are destroying the party at the National, Zonal, State, LGA and Ward levels, “the PDP would be sanitized because the Chief Tom Ikimi led NDC has demonstrated that it is committed to restoring the rule of law in the PDP.” (News breaks naija)
